Through its grantmaking programs, the Foundation works to strengthen the systems, resources, and organizations that help improve outcomes for people experiencing acute emergencies. In alignment with this mission, the Foundation has established an Emergency Fire & EMS Response Fund to provide assistance to fire and EMS agencies that have been impacted by the devastating wildfires affecting our state. The Foundation recognizes that the effects of these fires extend well beyond the communities directly threatened by fire. Fire and EMS agencies across the state have responded to assist their neighbors, often placing significant demands on personnel, equipment, and operational supplies. While we recognize that the needs of affected agencies will be significant, the goal of this emergency fund is to provide timely, direct assistance to help agencies maintain and restore their operational capabilities. ## **Grant Awards** Emergency grants will be awarded in amounts ranging from $500 to $2,500. Applications will be reviewed and evaluated based on the following considerations: - **Volunteer-based agencies:** Priority will be given to agencies that are primarily staffed by volunteers. - **Wildfire impact:** Priority will be given to agencies directly impacted by wildfires. Agencies that have provided mutual aid or otherwise assisted communities and departments across the state during the wildfire response will also be eligible to apply. - **Operational equipment and supplies:** Funding will focus on the replacement, repair, or replenishment of equipment and supplies that were used, damaged, or rendered unusable in the course of providing wildfire-related emergency services. - **Direct operational needs:** While the Foundation recognizes the significant impact that wildfire response has had on staffing, personnel, and other agency costs, this grant program will focus specifically on **direct operational material needs**, rather than personnel or staffing expenses. Applications will be evaluated promptly, with the goal of distributing funds as quickly as possible to agencies with demonstrated operational needs. ## **Application Requirements** Applicants will be asked to provide the following information: #### **Agency Information** - Name of Department/Organization - Name of Chief, Director, or Agency Leader - Name and title of the person submitting the request - Agency mailing address - Agency email address and telephone number - Contact information for the individual responsible for the request #### **Wildfire Response** - A brief description of the agency's service area - A brief description of the wildfire response, including: - Whether the agency was directly impacted by the wildfires - The communities or areas in which the agency provided assistance - The nature of the agency's response or mutual-aid activities #### **Funding Request** - A brief description of the requested funding - Identification of the equipment or supplies being requested - Description of any equipment that needs to be repaired or replaced - A brief explanation of how the equipment or supplies were used, damaged, or rendered unusable as a result of wildfire response activities - If the request represents a contribution toward the total cost of an item, please provide: - The total cost of the item - The amount requested from the Kestra Foundation - A brief explanation of how the remaining cost will be funded, if applicable ## **Review and Award Timeline** The Kestra Medical Foundation is committed to making this funding available as quickly as possible to agencies responding to the ongoing needs created by the wildfires. - **Application Opens:** November 2, 2026 - **Application Deadline:** December 17, 2026 - Submission Email: [philanthropy@kestramedical.com](mailto:philanthropy@kestramedical.com) - **Award Notifications:** By January 15, 2027 - **Funds Distributed:** Mid to Late January 2027 Completed applications and any supporting documentation must be submitted electronically to [philanthropy@kestramedical.com](mailto:philanthropy@kestramedical.com) no later than December 17, 2026. Applications will be reviewed following the close of the application period. Funding decisions will be based on the program priorities outlined above and the demonstrated operational needs of applicant agencies.
